Match Report – Glasgow University 1st XV 20 – 10 Durham 3rd XV (29-10-14)
Finally the 1st XV efforts were rewarded with a victory. It didn’t take long for the Glasgow to figure out Durham’s lineout and exert dominance in the set piece. The majority of the first half was spent in Durham’s half and with better execution Glasgow could have put the game to bed by the break. Angus Hardy scored a good try from base of the ruck and it was converted for a 10-0 lead at half time. The second half went much the same way. Jamie Fieldhouse had a strong finish to score in the corner from a scrum. The score was 17-3 and Glasgow were playing well, however, Durham game back well to score with 10 minutes to go. Glasgow managed to get back in the half and seal the game with a penalty. All in a strong performance which Glasgow take into the league fixtures next week. Next fixture in the cup is Manchester away to try and continue the cup run.
