Match Report – G.U.R.F.C. 1st XV 5 – 28 Aberdeen 1st XV (BUCS 1A, 15-10-14)
Similar to other weeks, Glasgow did not start the game as well as they should have and spent the early parts of the encounter defending. As a result of a lack of possession, Aberdeen managed to capitalise with two tries after 25 minutes. Glasgow began to play and exert some more pressure on Aberdeen, a few penalties and scrums allowed us to gain territory and possession towards the end of the half but no points came of it. Aberdeen then scored in the last play of the half to make it 21-0 at the break. Much of the second half was played in the middle of the park. Glasgow managed to build phases better in the second half and were finally rewarded with a good try from John Rae. Aberdeen managed to then score a well-executed first play move from a scrum to kill Glasgow’s momentum and secure the win. Another disappointing performance for Glasgow with improvements needed before St. Andrews at Garscube next week.
