Match Report – 2nd XV 24 – 5 St. Andrews 2nd XV (St. Andrews,4-3-15)
The 2nd XV traveled to St. Andrews for their final match of the season. The match started at a high intensity, with both teams looking to play expansive rugby in the perfect weather conditions. It was Glasgow who scored first after the forwards turned over a scrum in the St. Andrews 22. Louis Fields took full advantage, scoring under the posts after a strong carry. Kyle Henderson converted, and added a penalty soon after to take the score to 10-0. However, Glasgow’s ill-discipline that has cost them throughout the season let them down again as Matthew Hamilton was yellow carded just before half time. The visitors were forced to defend against a sustained St. Andrews attack, and did so heroically to keep the score at 10-0. The second half started with Glasgow on the front foot and they were rewarded through a try from Jack Connor. Louis Fields then capitalised on a loose ball to score his second try of the match and to leave the score at 24-0. After a quick lineout from St. Andrews, they scored a fine try that started from inside their own half. This left the final score at 24-5 to Glasgow. This cemented 2nd place in the league for the boys, an impressive feat in their first season in 3A after promotion last season.
