Match Report – 2nd XV 15 – 7 Glasgow Caledonian 1st XV (Garscube, 25-2-15)
The visitors started well with sustained pressure on the Glasgow line, but Glasgow’s defence held firm and didn’t allow them to cross. In the difficult conditions, there were no clear cut opportunities for either side to score until Damien Genocchio broke the line and threw a pass to allow Matthew Hamilton to score in the corner from a well worked set play. The score remained 5-0 until half time. The second half started well for the hosts as they attacked, however the Glasgow Uni team failed to convert their chances. The pressure finally paid off and after some neat passing between the forwards, Michael Bunker crossed the line to make it 10-0 to Glasgow. Soon after, Graham Wilson added another try for the home team after a strong run to deservedly increase the lead. However, Caley took full advantage of a handling error by Glasgow and scored a try which was converted. This left the final score at 15-7 to Glasgow Uni. A win this week would secure second place in the league after a successful first season in 3A.
