Match Report – 2nd XV 10 – 45 RGU 1st XV (22-10-14)
In what is becoming the story of the 2nd XV’s season, the first half was poor followed by a much improved second half. Both sides started strongly, with the packs testing each other in the first 10 minutes in the middle of the park. However when RGU’s pack began to dominate, their backs were allowed to hit big running lines with plenty of offloads. Glasgow found this hard to deal with, and conceded three quick tries. A penalty from Jay Brownrigg was the only Glasgow as RGU ran in three more tries to lead 38-3 at the break. The boys were fired up for the second half, putting in a much better performance in contact zones and giving a more recognisable performance. RGU grabbed another try, but Glasgow put the pressure on and were rewarded with our only try of the day, Alex Gibbons grabbing a typical scrum half score pinching it from a yard out after some great efforts from the forwards. A much better second half performance but the game was well gone at half time. A weeks rest before Stirlings 1st XV in the Conference Cup.
