Match Report – 2nd XV 0 – 15 Aberdeen 3rd XV (Conference Cup, Away. 18-2-15)
After the long trip to Aberdeen the boys made an impressive start, playing into the wind and handling everything Aberdeen threw at them. It was only after a lack of communication and dropped ball inside the Glasgow 22 that Aberdeen managed to grab some points and lead 7-0. Strong Glasgow defence continued despite being down to fourteen men for the remainder of the half as tempers flared in the Glasgow side. Half-time was 7-0 in a tightly contested 40. In the second half the wind that had kept Glasgow pinned deep in our 22 had subsided, and Aberdeen could play unburdened. After some well worked forwards moves from Aberdeen they scored again to go 12-0 up. As the half wore on it became ever more apparent that the Glasgow attack would not cross Aberdeen’s try line. As time wore on Aberdeen secured their win with a further penalty, leaving the score at 15-0 which they held onto for the remaining 5 minutes. Some great work from the 2nd XV, but unfortunately reduced of pitch time shone through the performance again as they lacked scoring instinct.
