Match Report – 1st XV 15 – 27 Manchester University 1st XV (Manchester, 26-11-14)
A cloudy day in Manchester saw our 1st XV unfortunately lose out to Manchester Uni 1st XV. After a very early morning meet the boys started well, with Sam Bullock making his penalty count for a 3-0 lead. Manchester rallied, and a good forwards try put them 5-3 up. That turned out to be the half-time score with neither side able to break the stalemate. The second half began well, with Andrew Hemmings going through Manchester’s winger out wide to score. Bullock added the tricky extras for a 10-5 lead. However, a Manchester penalty was quickly followed by two tries and they raced into a 20-10 lead. A final Manchester try was cancelled out by yet another John Rae effort, with the game finishing 27-15 to Manchester. A spirited performance from the boys who gave a great account of themselves down south. Focus switches back to league games next semester.
