Match Report – 1st XV 10 – 31 St. Andrews 1st XV (BUCS 1A, 22-10-14)
This week Glasgow faced last year’s league winners who are currently unbeaten this season. Once again Glasgow conceded early in the game, however both sides only shared a penalty apiece after that in the first half. Glasgow played better than in previous weeks and it was left in the balance at half time at 10-3. In the second half St. Andrews were able to take advantage of a heavier pack, winning multiple penalties at the scrum. This allowed them territory and a man advantage for 10 minutes, which they took full advantage of. With a penalty try and driven scrum over the line St. Andrews took a strong hold on the game. Glasgow fought back to put John Rae under the posts after several phases. In the end, St Andrew’s came out victorious 31-10. With a stronger scrummage it could have been a different story for Glasgow.
