Glasgow’s 2ndXV hit Edinburgh 4thXV for four
Glasgow University RFC 2nd XV 24 – 0 Edinburgh University RFC 4th XV
Glasgow’s second team maintained their unbeaten start to the season as they swept aside their opposition from the capital. Despite numerous silly penalties in the first half, Glasgow went in at half time 7-0 up thanks to a well taken try from number 8 Sam Mulholland.
The boys in Black and Gold went up a few gears in the second half and really impressed as they ran in three more tries courtesy of Archie Winnington-Ingram, Greig Blackie and Andrew St Clair. All the rugby was played in their half and the fact all the scorers were forwards gives an indication where the match was won.
Strong defence on Glasgow’s line prevented Edinburgh adding a consolation late on once the home side had gone down to 14 men after a yellow card had been brandished. All in all a good performance, particularly from the pack who were dominant throughout with Dave Patterson collecting the Man of the Match ‘award’ and honourable mentions to Blackie and Ross Mulford who also played well.
