Freshers Tens Match Report
On Friday afternoon, we entered two Freshers teams into a Tens tournament at Scotstoun stadium. Our 1st team kicked things off with a comfortable win against Stirling University, followed by a 22-0 victory over the University of Western Scotland. This was followed by a resounding 47-0 win against a Kilmarnock side, giving us a Cup quarter final against the Glasgow University Medics. The GURFC won 14-0 to secure a Cup final, at half-time of the game between the Glasgow Warriors and Connacht. Our 2nd team had a tougher time, losing to the Glasgow Uni Medics, Glasgow Caledonian and Strathclyde. This set up a Plate semi-final against Kilmarnock which we won 21-0, but unfortunately the 2nd team fell to Glasgow Caledonian in the final. The 1st team had a good break before their Cup final against Strathclyde, and after an understandably cagey affair Glasgow emerged as 7-0 winners. As well as a fantastic offensive effort, no points were conceded by the first team the entire tournament. An excellent way to start their university rugby careers, and extremely promising to see some boys putting their hands up for BUCS selection next week.
