The GURFC have access to all of the University of Glasgow’s sporting facilities. The two main sites that the GURFC benefit from are Garscube Sports Complex and the Stevenson Building on Oakfield Avenue.
Garscube Sports Complex, located in Marryhill is where the GURFC train on Mondays and Fridays at 6 – 7.30pm and it is also the location of our home fixtures. There are two full size grass pitches dedicated to rugby at Garscube along with a grass training area. Garscube also has one full size synthetic pitch and one full size 3G pitch which the GURFC have access to if the grass pitches are deemed unplayable. There are of course changing rooms located at Garscube and areas to socialise.
The Stevenson Building is where the University’s gym, swimming pool and activity hall are located. All members of the GURFC will have access to strength and conditioning programmes and those players that play for the 1st XV are expected to follow this programme closely. The Stevenson Building is currently being redeveloped into a larger and more professional facility and once this is completed the GURFC expect to be allocated training slots in the gym.
